Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a Unified Communications Engineer to join our dedicated team in the Northern Virginia region. This role involves contributing to a maintenance team that is accountable for the installation, configuration, optimization, and testing of network, video, and telephony services utilized within a government network.

Key Responsibilities

The Unified Communications Engineer will take charge of configuring, managing, monitoring, and sustaining government Command and Control (C2) conference rooms and video-teleconferencing endpoints. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing Tier II support for customer-reported incidents related to network conference room video systems, desktop video systems, video conferencing systems, video gateways, and video control systems.
  • Delivering end-user support, including in-room and external network assistance with graphical user interface access and operability; troubleshooting, scheduling, and administering video teleconferences.
  • Conducting testing and configuration of existing VTC hardware, implementing security controls, generating and applying security certificates, and performing specialized configuration testing for individual platforms.
  • Executing patch and firmware upgrades of VTC devices, providing break/fix support, and managing daily operations, including onsite assistance for special events.
  • Testing and evaluating video infrastructure equipment such as multi-controller units, meeting systems, video content servers, and video control systems.
  • Assessing video endpoint devices and associated peripherals.
  • Documenting and reporting all associated testing activities.
  • Developing and delivering training to end users on various endpoint devices.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with eight (8) years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience; a Master's degree with six (6) years of relevant experience; or a PhD with three (3) years of experience. Relevant experience may substitute for a completed higher education degree.
  • A current 8570 compliant certification.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with VOIP Protocols (SIP, H.323), Unified Communications Implementation, Gateway Solution Implementation, PABX / PSTN, Wireshark, SIP, Networking.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting a Cisco CUCM environment for video collaboration.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing Cisco Telepresence, Video Communications, and Meeting Server.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience interacting with high-profile executives and addressing video conferencing support needs.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with encoding and decoding streaming technology.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of troubleshooting and repairing VTC equipment (Voice, video, and conference room control equipment).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience supporting a Cisco CUCM environment for video collaboration.
  • Five (5) years of experience managing Cisco Telepresence, Video Communications, and Meeting Server.
  • Technical certification in Cisco Voice and Video Engineering.
  • Direct experience with Cisco Telepresence Management System, Video Control Server, Cisco Meeting Server, WebEx Pro desktop video systems, and WebEx Pro system CODECs.
  • Familiarity with the ITIL library in support of incident and change management.
  • Experience with a maintenance ticketing system to manage incidents and problems.
  • Knowledge of monitoring systems such as Solarwinds, Splunk, and Variphy.
  • Previous experience supporting government and/or Department of Defense customers.
