Job Overview

SUMMARY: Under close supervision, the Audit Staff applies technical expertise to evaluate risks, assess clients' internal control frameworks, conduct testing to identify and rectify accounting or reporting discrepancies, and prepare financial statements through the following responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts client audit engagement tasks under the guidance of senior staff, ensuring timely and high-quality service delivery.
  • Collects and reviews necessary documentation to complete audit engagements.
  • Adheres to time constraints and client deadlines for audit fieldwork and report generation.
  • Engages with client representatives regarding inquiries, recommendations, and findings.
  • Prepares workpapers and assists in the creation of audit reports, management letters, and other deliverables for clients.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, ensuring compliance with both internal and external regulations.
  • Actively prepares for and pursues the CPA examination until successful completion.
  • Ensures compliance with continuing professional education (CPE) requirements for the Firm and licensing standards.
  • May require travel to meet client needs, with approximately 20-30% of time spent traveling, including 10-15% overnight travel.

This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must effectively perform essential duties. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution with a strong academic record (minimum GPA of 3.0); must meet the requirements to sit for the CPA exam; relevant accounting internship and/or recent experience in accounting or auditing preferred; involvement in campus and civic activities in leadership roles is advantageous.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with familiarity with office equipment, computer hardware, and peripheral devices. Develops expertise in computer audit applications and Firm-specific software.

Additional Skills:

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements on Auditing Standards (SAS), and general auditing practices is essential.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and communicate verbally. The employee frequently walks and uses hands for various tasks.
