POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and structural components within the Concentrator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work on systems including crushers, ball mills, semi-autogenous mills, screen decks, compressors, filter drums, pumps, flotation units, classifiers, and lubrication systems.
  • Conduct mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance: Identify potential failures, unusual noises, and wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys, and gearboxes.
  • Prioritize and make informed decisions regarding necessary equipment repairs.
  • Perform welding tasks (Stick, Tig) as part of maintenance and repair activities.
  • May operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, pneumatic tools, and small mobile machinery.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment while conducting work area inspections.
  • Experience with gear and shaft alignments.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of large conveyors in a concentrator setting.
  • Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts in a continuous operation.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Undertake other tasks as necessary to ensure mechanical operations are maintained.
  • Act as a Fill-in Supervisor when required.
  • Provide training and mentorship to fellow employees.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to comprehend and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Effective communication skills in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Proficient in reading and utilizing schematics and blueprints.
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Manual dexterity in the use of hand tools is essential.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of experience in mill mechanical maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Prior experience operating mobile cranes exceeding twenty (20) tons.
  • Certification in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc).
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY
  • Training or instruction in environmental awareness is required.
  • This position necessitates training or instruction in safety and health awareness, including completion of relevant OSHA and/or MSHA training.
