Job Overview

Position Title: Field Supervisor

Compensation: $17.00 Per Hour

The Field Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment for recreational activities through effective field management, oversight, and upkeep. This is a seasonal, part-time, non-exempt role.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid is required (training will be provided).
  • Basic understanding of softball regulations is necessary (training will be provided).

Reporting Structure:

The Field Supervisor reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pre-Game Setup:
    1. Arrive 45 minutes before the first scheduled game.
    2. Ensure restrooms are unlocked.
    3. Prepare scorecards according to the league schedule and place them at the designated fields.
    4. Set up fields with bases and perform last-minute maintenance as needed.
    5. Distribute game balls to each field and guide umpires to their respective locations.
    6. If umpires are late, contact them or their backup.
  2. Game Monitoring: Actively oversee games, which may involve moving between multiple fields.
  3. Field Lighting: Activate field lights as daylight diminishes.
  4. Scorecard Management: Ensure umpires and team captains sign scorecards after each game.
  5. Weather Monitoring: Keep an eye on weather conditions and inform umpires and players of any impending severe weather.
  6. Field Safety: Assess field conditions to maintain safety standards.
  7. First Aid: Provide first aid when necessary, complete incident reports, and notify the Recreation Supervisor of any urgent issues.
  8. Communication: Maintain professional and courteous communication with players, captains, and spectators.
  9. Post-Game Duties:
    1. Collect scorecards and clipboards for the Recreation Supervisor.
    2. Email game results and hours worked to the Recreation Supervisor.
    3. Return bases to storage and secure the storage boxes.
    4. Gather lost and found items for safekeeping.
    5. Turn off field lights after the final game.
  10. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.

Psychological Considerations:

The Field Supervisor may need to mediate conflicts that arise among players and patrons, collaborating with umpires to ensure a safe and organized league environment.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of lifting up to 45 lbs and responding swiftly to emergencies.

Environmental Factors:

All tasks are conducted outdoors, with varying weather conditions including cold, wet, hot, humid, rainy, and windy weather.

Cognitive Requirements:

Strong safety awareness and judgment are essential, along with a friendly demeanor and the ability to work well with individuals of all ages.

Work Schedule:

This position requires availability on Tuesday evenings and may include additional shifts.

Compensation:

Starting salary is $17.00 per hour.
