Organization Overview:
Make the Road Action (MRA) is a 501(c)(4) entity dedicated to empowering immigrant and low-income working-class communities of color. Operating across multiple states, MRA is focused on fostering social transformation, connecting voters with the candidates and issues that matter most, and engaging in hands-on initiatives to create lasting impacts in underserved communities.

Position Summary:
The Community Engagement Coordinator will oversee a team of canvassers to enhance voter participation and mobilization efforts. Candidates must possess reliable transportation to facilitate effective outreach. The coordinator will lead initiatives such as distributing informational materials, engaging with voters at a safe distance, and meticulously documenting relevant data for monitoring purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and organize canvassing efforts, voter registration drives, and phone banking initiatives.
  • Build and nurture relationships within the community to promote civic engagement, emphasizing the importance of voting and volunteering.
  • Provide timely feedback to the campaign manager regarding field observations to enhance voter registration success.
  • Represent MRA positively within the community, addressing inquiries in a non-partisan manner as mandated by law.
  • Achieve designated performance metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Report daily to the campaign manager on both quantitative and qualitative outcomes, ensuring accurate data management.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and training sessions focused on voter outreach strategies and safety protocols.
  • Conduct door-to-door canvassing, dedicating a minimum of 4-6 hours daily to outreach efforts.
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and assist in the recruitment of new canvassers.
Qualifications:
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required prior to the start of employment.

  • Passion for social justice, particularly in relation to immigrant rights.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Willingness to learn new database and communication tools.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license with insurance.
  • Capacity to work flexible hours in a dynamic, metrics-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits:
Temporary employees are eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits. The hourly wage for this role is competitive.
