Instructional Assistant

Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Instructional Aide to provide individualized supervision and instruction to assigned students, as well as additional support to the core classroom staff. As an Instructional Aide, you will work closely with students to implement their Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and utilize group and individual instruction in the classroom and community.
Responsibilities:- Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes high expectations for student learning.
- Instruct and monitor students during lessons to ensure fidelity of instruction and support student learning.
- Utilize instructional strategies to assist students in meeting course completion requirements and progress towards their goals.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate with classroom teachers to ensure consistency and support.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by upholding the ChanceLight philosophy and policies, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Support students with academic issues, provide encouragement, and counsel students as needed.
- Participate in school meetings, student/parent meetings, and individual student advisory meetings as requested and required.
- Communicate necessary information to students, team members, supervisors, and parents regarding students' needs and academic progress.
- Participate in the assurance and accreditation process to ensure the site meets performance plans.
- Participate in all school and district professional development days.
- Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
- Work collaboratively with other staff for the good of the school.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
- Active Paraprofessional and/or PPS Certification preferred.
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in an education and/or classroom setting.
- Prior experience working in an alternate education program setting preferred.
- Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply concepts of basic math.
- Working knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
