Job Summary:
The Sous Chef will serve as the second-in-command in our cafe, supporting the Kitchen Manager and/or Executive Chef in upholding Hard Rock International's culinary standards. This role requires a strong leader who can maintain the highest standards of brand, local health, safety, and food preparation hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and Assist in Menu Planning: Collaborate with the culinary team to design and prepare all food orders, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Maintain Brand Standards: Uphold Hard Rock International's brand standards, local health, safety, and food preparation hygiene, and ensure that all team members adhere to these guidelines.
- Lead by Example: Foster a culture of customer service, where every team member prioritizes the guest experience.
- Food Quality and Safety: Execute established food standards to meet or exceed brand expectations, ensuring the highest levels of hygiene and food handling practices.
- Staff Development: Support the development and advancement of hourly team members, providing guidance and coaching to drive continuous improvement and employee growth.
- Culinary Leadership: Serve as a Culinary Learning Coach, developing and implementing learning and development programs to enhance the skills of Heart of House employees.
- Leadership and Adaptability: Possess a self-motivated approach to personal and professional growth, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the hospitality industry, inclusive of restaurant culinary operations.
- Education and Certifications: Possess all local food management and safety certifications.
Skills:
- Leadership and Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, management, and guests.
- Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Business Acumen: High level of business acumen and common sense, with the ability to make informed decisions and drive results.
Physical Demands:
- Physical Ability: Ability to move throughout the corporate office and cafes during visits, with the ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and lift up to 10 pounds.
- Sensory Abilities: Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear, with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
