Key Responsibilities

The Project Accountant role encompasses all aspects of project and contract financial management. The primary objective is to support the Project Manager in the non-technical administration of a project, with a focus on maintaining the project's financial health.

This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Client invoicing and collections management
  • Project reviews and ensuring precise contract documentation
  • Contract monitoring and maintenance, including budget and funding entry
  • Contract administration throughout various stages of the contract lifecycle

This position requires a proactive team player who collaborates with multiple Project Managers and staff to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and HDR policies and procedures. Timely and accurate performance, along with strong multitasking abilities, are essential.

In the role of Project Accountant 2, you will be responsible for:
  • Generating accurate invoices in accordance with contract stipulations
  • Ensuring prompt processing of subconsultant invoices for payment
  • Entering project budgets and funding based on contract documents and input from Project Managers
  • Participating in Project Reviews, kick-off, and team meetings as needed
  • Maintaining and overseeing contract compliance
  • Monitoring weekly and monthly project expenditures
  • Analyzing and notifying the Project Manager of outstanding accounts receivable issues, working with clients as necessary for payment
  • Conducting research and providing necessary data regarding project financial status, including funding/budget, staffing needs, and accounts receivable
  • Managing funding and budget updates due to work/scope changes and contract amendments
  • Engaging in on-demand Project Reviews to discuss project financial status
  • Confirming the completion of final billing, re-forecasting, and preparing projects for closeout
  • Executing various specialized accounting functions of moderate complexity while ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and contractual obligations

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on project accounting
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Highly energetic, detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle EBS is desirable
  • Experience in Architecture/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) is highly valued
  • Preference will be given to local candidates
