Job Title: Research Scientist Principal/KTC

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist Principal/KTC to join our team at the Kentucky Transportation Center. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for leading and conducting multidisciplinary transportation research projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and developing innovative solutions to complex transportation challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and conduct research studies to address transportation-related issues and improve transportation systems
  • Develop and apply unique methodologies to analyze and solve complex transportation problems
  • Supervise research scientists and technicians, and oversee multiple projects
  • Prepare research reports, grant proposals, and materials that facilitate technology transfer
  • Represent the Kentucky Transportation Center and build lasting partnerships with clients, transportation organizations, and agencies
Requirements:
  • PhD in a relevant field, such as transportation engineering, civil engineering, or a related field
  • At least 3-5 years of research experience in transportation-related fields
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the Kentucky Transportation Center and build partnerships with stakeholders
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and other relevant software
