Job Overview

An award-winning global provider of quality lifting solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Service Coordinator to join their successful team of professionals.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location: Branch metropolitan area

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of prior experience working as a Service Writer, Technician, and Warranty Administrator in a service workshop environment. Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty truck and truck mounted equipment is essential, including brands such as Kenworth, Sterling, Cormach, Socage, Elliott, Fassi, Palfinger, and Terex.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ascertaining truck and truck mounted equipment problems and services by listening to customers' descriptions of symptoms, clarifying descriptions of problems, conducting inspections, taking test drives, checking vehicle maintenance records, and examining service schedules
  • Verifying warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions
  • Working with manufacturers on warranty claims tracking each one through to completion
  • Developing estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customers' amounts due
  • Maintaining customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicles, obtaining customers' approval of estimates, obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers, answering questions and concerns, arranging towing and temporary transportation
  • Maintaining vehicle records by recording problems and corrective actions planned
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications
  • Enhancing organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Maintaining vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
  • Keeping supplies ready by working closely with the Parts Department on inventory
  • Working closely with Services Management to develop and implement target account specific objectives, strategies, and action plans
  • Quoting prices, bidding specifications, and maintaining records as outlined by management
  • Answering customers' inquiries regarding products, prices, availability, and product uses
  • Updating customers on work progress and expected completion timelines
  • Monitoring customer satisfaction and communicating this information to management
  • Working with Parts and Service Departments to introduce customers to other services provided

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have 3+ years of prior experience working as a Service Writer, Technician, and Warranty Administrator in a service workshop environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty truck and truck mounted equipment, including brands such as Kenworth, Sterling, Cormach, Socage, Elliott, Fassi, Palfinger, and Terex
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics
  • Dependable and valid driver's license required
  • Good PC skills: Excel and Word
