Heavy Duty Fleet Technician

The Senior Fleet Mechanic will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex diesel equipment issues, including tractors, trailers, and reefers. This includes performing preventative maintenance, documenting repairs, and maintaining a safe working environment. You will also handle road service calls, transport equipment as needed, and assist other maintenance personnel as required. To be successful in this role, you must have significant hands-on experience in diesel mechanics, with a focus on heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Your expertise should include diagnostic and troubleshooting competency, along with excellent communication and teamwork skills. About the Role:
This is a 2nd shift position, Monday through Friday, from 2pm-10:30pm. As a Senior Fleet Mechanic at US Foods, Inc., you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, and reefers. Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex diesel equipment issues
- Perform preventative maintenance according to company standards
- Document all repairs, PM lists, and parts accountability
- Handle road service calls, transport equipment as needed, and assist other maintenance personnel
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to workplace safety rules and regulations
- Manage inventory and maintain proper recordkeeping
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Class-A CDL license DOT certified preferred
- (7) years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or a combination of both; or (5) years verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification, or both
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Physical Requirements:
This job requires frequent standing, walking, and driving, as well as occasional lifting up to 120-150 pounds. You will also be required to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and twist occasionally.
