About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Legislative Officer to join our team at the Ohio Department of Medicaid. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the agency's legislative strategy and advocating for the needs of our consumers, providers, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the agency's legislative strategy, working closely with the Director and other senior leaders to advance our policy priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including lawmakers, advocacy groups, and other government agencies.
  • Advise the Director and other staff on legislative matters, providing expert analysis and guidance on complex policy issues.
  • Develop and manage the agency's legislative budget, ensuring effective use of resources to achieve our policy goals.
  • Represent the agency in legislative hearings and other public forums, effectively communicating our position and advocating for our interests.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as political science, public administration, or law.
  • At least 5 years of experience in legislative affairs, with a strong track record of success in developing and implementing legislative strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex policy issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
