Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legislative Aide to join our team. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to a representative, handling tasks such as scheduling, mail and telephone handling, and file maintenance. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to multitask, and have a strong understanding of the legislative process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the district office
  • Answer and screen telephone calls to the district office
  • Staff the representative for committee, session, and legislative meetings
  • Prepare documents and materials for the representative and constituents
  • Organize and plan meetings and attend with the representative when needed
  • Provide exceptional customer service to constituents and visitors
  • Draft various writing assignments on behalf of the representative
  • Organize and maintain files, both electronic and paper
  • Take notes of meetings, prepare minutes, and write reports
  • Handle constituent information requests and track them in the CMS database
  • Schedule the representative and make travel arrangements
  • Process commendations and retrieve them from the Clerk's Office
  • Assist with legislative research and coordinate the drafting of bills
  • Serve as a contact between the representative and caucus policy and communication staff
  • Assist with constituent outreach and travel to the representative's district
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Two years of relevant legislative experience or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Strong understanding of the legislative process and terminology
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
