Job Summary

The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) plays a pivotal role in leading and promoting the professional practice of nursing at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer(s), the ACNO is responsible for driving nursing excellence, evidence-based practice, and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and promote the professional practice of nursing, aligning with the ANA Scope of Standards for Nurses and Nurse Administrators.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, annual goals, objectives, financial budgets, and implementation plans for nursing excellence.
  • Oversee nursing education, transition to practice, evidence-based practice, nursing research, nursing quality, the Magnet program, and nursing informatics.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Executive Council (NEC) to strategically plan, align, and execute nursing's contribution to the organization's strategic mission.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to encourage top-of-licensure practice grounded in the professional practice model.
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Current Ohio Registered Nurse license.
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience and ten years in a senior leadership role, preferably in an academic medical center.
  • Professional certification in Nursing Administration or clinical practice is desired.
