Exciting Opportunities Await at McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering and Design division. Our engineers at McKinstry excel in merging innovative problem-solving with practical design applications. Through our design, build, operate, and maintain (DBOM) methodology, our engineers focus not only on constructing buildings but also on ensuring their long-term functionality. Every decision is centered around one objective – delivering high-performance buildings that prioritize occupant comfort, safety, energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, client satisfaction, and environmental stewardship. In this role, you will have the chance to collaborate with the Energy, Construction, and National Renewables teams on developing Electrical and PV projects across the country. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and mentoring in the design of mechanical systems, calculations, airside systems, piping systems, and equipment selection
  • Documenting project communications, issues, decisions, and directives
  • Adhering to McKinstry's engineering standards and protocols
  • Contributing to multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Managing team workload to ensure timely task completion within budget
  • Providing engineering analysis to support sales and early design phases
  • Expertise in electrical systems design and related tasks
  • Creating design drawings and building information models for construction
  • Enhancing technical understanding of design decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of eight years of experience in a relevant field
  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in energy modeling is advantageous
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Knowledge of other CAD/BIM tools is welcome
  • Understanding of software such as MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, and IES-VE
  • Engineering in Training Certificate is desirable
  • LEED accreditation is a plus
