Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and orderly registration of all patients at Phoenix Children's Hospital. As the primary liaison for patients receiving professional and hospital services, this individual is responsible for preparing admission forms, obtaining necessary documentation and signatures, and confirming demographic information when the patient and/or guarantor present for services. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to collect co-pay and deductible amounts at time of service and maintain accurate records in the system.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Register patients who present for professional and hospital services, collecting co-pay and deductible amounts and obtaining necessary signatures.
  2. Accurately document patient information in the system, maintaining accuracy when entering demographic and insurance details.
  3. Provide excellent customer service, answering phone calls and responding to patient inquiries in a timely manner.
  4. Identify and refer uninsured and underinsured patients to the Financial Counselor for assistance.
  5. Verify patient account information in the system to identify any previous unpaid liabilities.
  6. Maintain a positive working relationship with patients, guarantors, insurance companies, government entities, clinical personnel, and management to promote teamwork and a positive public image for Phoenix Children's Hospital.
  7. Organize and prioritize daily work activities to ensure complete, accurate, and compliant registration is performed in a timely manner.
  8. Participate in educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels.
  9. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
