Community Overview:

Columbus Colony for Elderly Care is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Assistant to uphold the cleanliness and hygiene standards of our facility. The role involves performing a variety of general cleaning tasks to ensure a sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents.

Work Schedule:
This position operates from 8 AM to 4 PM, five days a week, with alternating weekends off.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute all cleaning tasks as assigned, adhering to the established cleaning schedule for various areas including offices, resident rooms, restrooms, activity rooms, and common areas.
  • Conduct emergency cleaning as required, ensuring all surfaces, fixtures, and floors are thoroughly cleaned, dusted, and disinfected.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of water fountains, sinks, mirrors, and glass surfaces, ensuring they are polished and presentable.
  • Change and arrange furnishings, slipcovers, and decorative items as needed, ensuring a tidy and organized appearance.
  • Replenish supplies such as soap and towels in designated areas, and manage waste disposal by emptying and cleaning waste receptacles.
  • Collaborate with other staff in resident areas, ensuring that cleaning protocols are followed, especially in sensitive environments like isolation units.
  • Oversee terminal cleaning processes in resident rooms post-discharge, preparing spaces for new occupants.
  • Assist in the quarterly inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
Competency Requirements:
  • Accountability: Ability to take responsibility for actions and decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Integrity: Demonstrates honesty and credibility in the workplace.
  • Initiative: Capable of making informed decisions to address challenges.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Six months to one year of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency is required.
Additional Requirements:

Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Familiarity with basic housekeeping tools and supplies is essential. The role involves working collaboratively with other staff members, residents, and families while adhering to all safety and security protocols.
