Job Title: Housekeeping Assistant

Columbus Colony for Elderly Care is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant to join our team. As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of general housekeeping/cleaning duties in various areas to maintain the community in a sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly condition.
  • Receive assignments from the leader and follow the cleaning schedule as outlined for the housekeeping department.
  • Clean, dust, wash, and disinfect all fixtures, floors, walls, doors, and ceilings as required.
  • Scour and polish water fountains, sinks, mirrors, glass panels in doors and partitions, brass, and movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures.
  • Change slip covers, scarves, doilies, etc., when soiled, and arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
  • Clean ledges, shelves, vents, windows, window sills, etc.
  • Remove and re-hang curtains, drapes, and dividers for cleaning when needed.
  • Replenish the supply of soap and towels in appropriate receptacles.
  • Empty and clean waste baskets.
  • Work with personnel/services floors in resident rooms, baths, lounges, nurses' stations, and offices as assigned.
  • Oversee terminal cleaning duties according to established procedure in resident rooms when a resident has been discharged or transferred and prepare rooms for new occupants.
  • Oversee cleaning duties in isolation units when a resident is transferred according to established procedures.
  • Vacuum and shampoo all carpeting and rugs (has small rugs laundered).
  • Assist in quarterly inventory process.
  • Follow all appropriate safety and security guidelines, procedures, and protocol for residents in the Unit.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
  • Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience preferred
  • Computer Skills: Must possess basic computer skills
  • Other Requirements: Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language; Must be able to operate/utilize basic housekeeping equipment and supplies; Must be able to work with other housekeeping assistants, elderly residents, families, and other health care staff; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
