Position Overview:

The Mechanical Design Engineer is tasked with managing the comprehensive product development lifecycle, emphasizing the design and enhancement of electro-mechanical products, part assembly, and detailed component drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct design initiatives, encompassing new product creation and improvements.
  • Generate and disseminate engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Notices, bills of materials, and parts tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams and communicate project status to upper management.
  • Effectively juggle multiple projects while negotiating with both internal and external parties to deliver cost-efficient solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers.
  • Oversee prototyping, testing, and sample assembly processes.
  • Coordinate and lead team meetings for significant product launches.
  • Innovate and develop new products aligned with market demands.
  • Formulate and document testing strategies, manage prototypes, and coordinate assembly with external partners.
  • Produce and update CAD drawings and models, ensuring design efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in the development of lighting products.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, or a related analytical discipline.
  • Expertise in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Experience in managing projects effectively.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks with a sense of urgency.
  • Familiarity with Waterfall/gate-style product development; Agile experience is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Lean methodologies, including Kaizen, continuous improvement, poka-yoke, and 5S principles.
  • Moderate knowledge of electrical circuits, reliability, wiring, and control protocols.
