Position Overview:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in managing the complete product development lifecycle, emphasizing the design and enhancement of electro-mechanical products, part assembly, and detailed component documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct design initiatives, focusing on both new product innovations and improvements.
  • Generate and disseminate essential engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Notices, bills of materials, and parts tracking systems.
  • Engage with cross-disciplinary teams and communicate project status to upper management.
  • Effectively oversee multiple projects while collaborating with internal and external partners to secure cost-efficient solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers.
  • Oversee prototyping, testing, and assembly of samples.
  • Coordinate and lead team discussions for significant product milestones.
  • Invent and conceptualize new products in response to market demands.
  • Formulate and document testing strategies, manage prototypes, and coordinate assembly with external suppliers.
  • Produce and update CAD drawings and models, ensuring design efficiency and optimization.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in the development of lighting products.
  • A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, or a related analytical discipline.
  • Expertise in 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Experience in managing projects effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen sense of urgency.
  • Familiarity with Waterfall and gate-style product development methodologies; Agile experience is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Lean principles, including Kaizen, continuous improvement, poka-yoke, and 5S.
  • Moderate knowledge of electrical circuits, reliability, wiring, and control protocols.
