We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at SGA, a technology and resource solutions provider. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to work in a fast-paced environment with a passionate team of professionals.

Job Description

This role involves providing technical support and training for new technicians, ensuring that safety is the highest priority by adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures. You will be responsible for preparing microbiological media, cell culture media, various solutions, buffers, clean glassware, and prepared equipment for use throughout GMP and/or R&D groups.

You will also be working effectively within the team to meet department goals and objectives, executing glass wash and equipment preparation activities, cleaning, sterilizing, preparing, and distributing glassware and equipment. Additionally, you will operate process equipment, including autoclaves, washers, ovens, tanks, and benchtop instruments.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner with Media Prep Lab Services groups across campus on sharing best practices, demonstrate technical expertise and strength, including mastery of equipment and instruments used, and promote an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation.

As a Technical Laboratory Specialist, you will be required to adhere to all compliance requirements for training and support team to create and ensure a safer work environment. You will also be responsible for helping monitor the team's adherence to Internal Procedures (IPs) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and departmental procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Providing technical support and training for new technicians
  • Ensuring safety is the highest priority
  • Preparing microbiological media, cell culture media, various solutions, buffers, clean glassware, and prepared equipment
  • Working effectively within the team to meet department goals and objectives
  • Executing glass wash and equipment preparation activities
  • Cleaning, sterilizing, preparing, and distributing glassware and equipment
  • Operating process equipment, including autoclaves, washers, ovens, tanks, and benchtop instruments
  • Partnering with Media Prep Lab Services groups across campus
  • Demonstrating technical expertise and strength
  • Promoting an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation
  • Helping monitor the team's adherence to IP/SOPs and departmental procedures
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and one of the following:
    • Completion of college-level coursework in biological sciences and/or physical sciences
    • AA/AS Degree in a related science major
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • A strong background in either media prep or glassware operations or related operational environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with sterilizing/cleaning equipment
  • Interpersonal, communication, organizational skills: has proven abilities to work effectively and efficiently in teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Successful demonstration of collaboration and teamwork
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Must be a self-starter with strong focus on quality, attention to detail, and delivering results
  • Must be able to work weekends, off shift, and overtime as required
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Estimated Salary

$55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
