About the Role

Sedgwick is seeking a highly skilled Claims Investigator to join our team. As a Claims Investigator, you will play a critical role in investigating claims against insurance companies for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate complex losses locally, unassisted, up to designated authority, and assist on larger losses, including handling accounting-based losses (business interruption and stock)
  • Examine claim forms and other records to determine insurance coverage
  • Interview claimants, witnesses, and conduct thorough investigations to determine the extent of company liability
  • Estimate costs of repair, replacement, or compensation
  • Prepare reports of findings and negotiate settlements with claimants
  • Recommend litigation by the legal department when settlement cannot be negotiated
  • Attend litigation hearings
  • Revises case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs
  • Assist in preparing loss experience reports to help determine profitability and calculate adequate future rates
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Must have earned the IIA-AIC designation and be actively pursuing another professional insurance designation
  • Appropriate state adjuster license is required
  • Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Strong oral and written communication, including presentation skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated commitment to timely reporting
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
