ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates the bus safely in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable state regulations.
  • Conducts thorough pre- and post-trip inspections daily, maintaining accurate records of all relevant information.
  • Logs fuel levels, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms, ensuring the bus is cleaned daily.
  • Promotes safety at all times and ensures first aid supplies are fully stocked.
  • Communicates bus rules clearly and ensures compliance.
  • Builds friendly and positive relationships with staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
  • Effectively engages with diverse groups from various social and economic backgrounds.
  • Models effective relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Maintains regular communication with other staff members and supervisors.
  • Possesses the necessary state license to operate any bus with a capacity of over 15 passengers.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred: At least one year of experience as a bus driver.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess the appropriate class license.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to commercial passenger vehicles (buses).
  • Certifications in CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated desire and ability to work with children.
  • Proven track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
  • Completion of required training within 7 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Previous experience working with diverse populations.
  • Understanding of the organization's commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
