Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Environmental Sustainability to join our team at Tad PGS. This is an outstanding career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about environmental sustainability and has a strong background in environmental engineering and management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Environmental Compliance: Manage the enforcement of County, State, and Federal environmental protection laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Engineering Division Management: Oversee and monitor the engineering field activities of the assigned environmental engineering inspection personnel, reviewing permit applications and ensuring that all work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the work performance of the assigned personnel, providing feedback and coaching to ensure that all employees are meeting their job requirements and contributing to the success of the team.
  • Liaison and Communication: Maintain liaison with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and local municipalities, ensuring that all environmental matters are addressed and resolved in a timely and effective manner.
  • Training and Development: Instruct new personnel in regard to policies and procedures of the Department, ensuring that all employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Program Evaluation and Development: Evaluate programs and recommend new programs, ordinances, and policies to ensure that the Department is meeting its environmental goals and objectives.
  • Special Investigations: Investigate special environmental complaints, engage in noise and seismic surveys, and prepare reports as required.
Requirements:
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Public Health, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, Environmental Health, Environmental Management, Natural Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Physical Science, Geology, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Science(s), Biology or Biological Science(s).
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in environmental control or a related field, or an equivalent combination of professional work experience, training, and education.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree: A Master's degree in fields listed under Minimum Qualifications.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of professional work experience in environmental control.
  • Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of County, State, and Federal environmental protection laws.
  • Skills: Ability to evaluate programs and operations and to recommend program and ordinance changes, skill in the application of pollution control engineering principles and practices pertinent to resolving design, construction, and industrial process operating problems, skill in managing a work unit and in coordinating personnel to carry out the goals and objectives of the Department, skill in communicating, verbally and in writing, with the general public, skill in training personnel in regard to policies and procedures of the Department and in the use of various equipment used in engineering inspections, and skill in preparing detailed engineering reports relevant to engineering inspections of facilities.
