Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and drive the success of various engagements across all aspects of taxation.
  • Manage the utilization and realization of both self and team members.
  • Take full ownership of larger, more complex tax returns and delegate tasks to staff as necessary.
  • Investigate tax issues and filing requirements impacting tax compliance.
  • Analyze intricate tax matters and conduct tax structuring and modeling.
  • Inform relevant firm personnel about significant tax developments affecting clients.
  • Serve as a resource for tax staff on specific tax inquiries and issues.
  • Conduct initial reviews of complex tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and partnership/LLC clients.
  • Act as the engagement lead for specific client accounts, responsible for pre-engagement planning, execution, and final deliverable development.
  • Engage closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance services promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure complete client satisfaction through transparent communication, managing expectations, meeting deadlines, and proactively sharing tax-saving strategies.
  • Collaborate directly with Partners/Directors and clients to ensure tax and accounting engagements are completed accurately and timely, while developing practical and effective tax strategies.
  • Maintain a general awareness of economic and political trends that may influence tax or other legislation affecting the business environment.
  • Utilize firm resources effectively to complete projects and manage multiple client assignments.
  • Supervise, develop, train, and mentor staff, including performance and engagement reviews.
  • Establish a professional relationship with clients, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring they are well-informed of engagement progress.
  • Work on multidisciplinary teams, engaging directly with clients to identify issues and opportunities, formulate value propositions, and secure engagements.
  • Seek to cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education sessions regularly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting is required.
  • A Master's in Taxation degree is advantageous.
  • CPA Certification is mandatory.
  • 7+ years of tax experience in a CPA firm environment is required.
  • Strong technical skills related to tax preparation and review, tax compliance, agency correspondence, and tax research.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively and logically.
  • Proven ability to self-direct and effectively organize, prioritize, and manage multiple engagements under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills that foster strong client and staff relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to attract and develop profitable, sustainable client relationships.
  • This position requires in-office presence a minimum of 3 days per week.
