Key Responsibilities:

The primary objective of our risk management strategy is to optimize capital returns over the long term while maintaining an acceptable risk profile. This necessitates ongoing collaboration with senior leadership across both corporate and operational divisions. The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team consists of actuaries and catastrophe modelers tasked with the identification, assessment, and reporting of various risks including insurance, investment, credit, and operational risks. This team operates as a central function within the organization.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will work closely with fellow ERM team members on diverse projects, emphasizing casualty accumulation, catastrophe modeling, cyber risk, and other emerging threats. The candidate should exhibit proficiency in managing both quantitative and qualitative data and will engage in discussions with leaders from various business units as well as senior executives from different corporate functions.

Support for actuarial examinations will be available for those pursuing professional designations.

Casualty Accumulation Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of the casualty data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process.
  • Analyze and visualize casualty accumulations across insured entities, lines of business, and industries to provide valuable insights to leadership.
  • Contribute to the creation of casualty catastrophe scenarios by examining historical events and emerging risks.
  • Model intricate casualty reinsurance arrangements.

Cyber, Climate Change, and Emerging Risks:

  • Support the monitoring of cyber insurance exposures and the modeling of potential cyber catastrophe events.
  • Conduct research on emerging risks, including climate change, and assess their implications on property and casualty lines, invested assets, and overall business operations.

Additional Risk Assessment and Reporting Duties:

  • Evaluate and monitor property and workers' compensation risk aggregation.
  • Assist in the ERM reporting processes, including deliverables for senior management, rating agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Help automate and manage key risk processes and projects.
  • Support the implementation and upkeep of risk assessment processes across domestic and international business units.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A strong desire to build a career in property and casualty (re)insurance.
  • Proficiency in R/Python and Excel.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Capability to independently conduct research on a wide range of risk-related topics.
  • Understanding of casualty lines of business (e.g., general liability, professional lines).
  • 3 to 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts.
  • ACAS designation.

Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field.
