Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled mid-level Electrical Engineer to become a vital part of our Building Engineering Division, specifically within the Energy & Commissioning team.


The Energy & Commissioning team at LaBella Associates specializes in delivering extensive energy efficiency and renewable energy consulting, design, and commissioning services. This includes conducting feasibility studies and analyses, progressing through project design and construction, and culminating in commissioning and future planning.


Our engineers possess expertise in various energy studies related to new constructions, renovations, additions, and design/build projects for a diverse range of clients.


The selected engineer will collaborate with colleagues in the renewable energy sector, as well as with professionals from multiple disciplines such as power, civil, and environmental engineering. This collaboration will focus on analyzing and developing concepts, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports pertinent to renewable energy initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design distribution and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities, including DC and AC circuit distribution, raceways, switchboard and transformer sizing, and MV equipment and protection systems.
  • Ensure project compliance with relevant standards such as NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE-C2 (NESC).
  • Specify, select, and review equipment and materials.
  • Conduct selection and calculations for design purposes.
  • Guide junior engineers in developing and reviewing project drawings and documentation.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to design, manage, and finalize project designs.
  • Provide construction phase services, including submittal reviews and site visits to monitor project progress.
  • Conduct post-project completion inspections.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Preferred: At least 3 years of experience in the solar photovoltaic sector.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
  • New York State Professional Engineer's license is advantageous.
  • Experience with solar/interconnection-related software is required, including:
    • PVSyst (or similar) for energy production modeling;
    • eTap (or similar) for power analysis;
    • PVCase (or similar) for CAD design is desirable.
