About the Role

Momentum Academy is a public charter school district with a mission to promote academic excellence and character development among its scholars. As a Middle School English Teacher, you will play a critical role in leading the instruction and training of scholars in grades 5-9.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish a Positive Learning Environment: Create a structured and achievement-oriented learning environment that fosters academic excellence and character growth among scholars.
  • Develop and Implement Instructional Plans: Design and implement daily instruction plans that align with the school's long-range educational goals and objectives.
  • Employ Effective Instructional Strategies: Utilize a variety of creative, differentiated, and research-based instructional strategies to engage scholars in meaningful and rigorous learning experiences.
  • Assess and Analyze Student Progress: Conduct regular assessments and analyze data to determine student mastery and diagnose areas of misunderstanding.
  • Manage Classroom and Behavior: Apply classroom management techniques and implement disciplinary actions to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Record and Track Student Progress: Maintain accurate and complete records of scholar attendance, behavior, and academic progress.
  • Set and Achieve Goals: Establish measurable goals for scholar achievement and character development, and work towards achieving them.
  • Ensure Scholar Safety and Well-being: Provide reasonable vigilance for the physical safety and well-being of scholars while on campus or off-campus for school functions.
  • Evaluate Scholar Progress: Regularly evaluate individual scholar academic progress through varied assessments.
  • Build Relationships with Scholars, Parents, and Families: Foster positive relationships with scholars, parents, and families to promote scholar success and well-being.
  • Continuously Improve Teaching Skills: Seek out constructive feedback and professional development opportunities to improve teaching skills and stay current with best practices.
  • Participate in Faculty and Staff Meetings: Actively and professionally participate in all faculty and staff meetings, professional development, and events.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and Missouri Teaching Certification (Language Arts 5-9 preferred).
  • Teaching Experience: 1-3 years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of student achievement results.
  • Technical Skills: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as experience with school teaching platforms and technology for virtual learning.
  • Instructional and Classroom Management Skills: Demonstrated mastery and enthusiasm for content knowledge, strong instructional and classroom management skills, and a tireless work ethic.
