Work Schedule:

This role includes 2 remote days weekly.

Core Responsibilities:

Service Delivery:

1. Plan and deliver speech-language pathology services to students experiencing speech, voice, or language disorders. Conduct assessments and provide or coordinate therapeutic interventions to alleviate or minimize issues that hinder students' ability to fully benefit from their educational experiences.

2. Develop clinical management strategies and diagnostic statements.

3. Engage in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee. Aid in interpreting assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders in accordance with district procedures.

Collaboration:

4. Consult with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the achievement of therapy objectives, the needs of the student, and participation in the remedial process.

5. Collaborate with classroom educators to design and implement activities that enhance students' communication skills.

6. Provide professional development within assigned schools to assist school personnel in effectively identifying and supporting students with communication deficits.

Student Engagement:

7. Foster a learning environment that is conducive to the maturity level and interests of students.

Program Oversight:

8. Develop and oversee a continuous evaluation of speech-language pathology services and make adjustments based on findings.

9. Participate in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.

10. Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documentation.

11. Actively engage in assessment team organization and planning to ensure timely compliance with all federal and state evaluation expectations.

12. Adhere to policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policies. Follow all district and campus routines and regulations.

13. May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistants or aides.

Additional Responsibilities:

14. Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Supervisory Duties:

May oversee the work of licensed speech-language pathology assistants or aides.

Physical and Mental Demands:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard testing equipment; standard office equipment including computer and peripherals.

Posture: Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension.

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting non-ambulatory students.

Environment: Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; may require travel.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.

*Supervisors of licensed speech-language assistants must be licensed by TDLR as speech-language pathologists. A person with a TEA certificate who is not licensed may not supervise a licensed speech-language pathology assistant.
