Opportunity Overview

At THE TRAVELERS INDEMNITY COMPANY, we are seeking a highly skilled Risk Control Technical Consultant to join our team. This role will provide the Underwriter with account knowledge as it relates to hazards, controls, and management.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the insurance industry and business acumen, as well as recognized relevant certifications. They will be responsible for evaluating how a company identifies and manages their inherent risk factors, differentiating the account from others in similar classes of business.

This role reports to the Risk Control Field Director or Managing Risk Control Consultant and will work with larger, more complex, and all lines accounts. The consultant will partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Partner and have joint ownership with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business.
  2. Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting, Claim, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers to service customers as a unified team.
  3. Complete risk assessment evaluations for moderate to high complex accounts with potential for severe losses, multi-location companies, and larger fleet exposures and generally business with significant exposures.
  4. Write technically detailed reports that communicate a clear assessment of risk and effectively articulate recommendations.
  5. Discover and evaluate customer needs through loss analysis and customer readiness in order to provide Risk Control products and services to help control losses.
  6. Identify uncontrolled exposures to influence the customer to make improvements and take corrective actions to mitigate the potential for loss.
  7. Provide solutions to assist the customer in risk mitigation through the use of our extensive span of resources.
  8. Stay current with technical subject matters, regulatory environment and emerging issues.
  9. Create a valued customer experience through each assessment and service encounter.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences and related technical fields. They will also have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with all others.

Additionally, the candidate will have five years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field, such as occupational/environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military experience.

Valid driver's license and the ability to attain appropriate certification to meet state-specific requirements are also required.
