Mission of the Division: The Division of Transplant Surgery is dedicated to delivering exceptional clinical services, advancing scientific knowledge through research, and educating both undergraduate and graduate students in the field. The Department promotes a vibrant professional environment that is crucial for the development of its graduates and the ongoing growth of its faculty. Primary Objective of the Role: This role is designated for an instructor within the Transplant Surgery specialty. The individual in this position should have a strong clinical focus in transplantation. Responsibilities will encompass all duties associated with team attendings, including inpatient rounds, outpatient clinics, consultations, surgical procedures as both primary and assisting surgeon, on-call duties, educational commitments, and quality assurance initiatives. The transplant team is involved in the procurement of donor organs, and this role will support that essential mission.

Key Responsibilities:
Education - The faculty member will be responsible for teaching across all aspects of Transplant Surgery. Research - The faculty member will initiate clinical research projects, aiming for publication in peer-reviewed journals and securing external funding. They are expected to cultivate interdisciplinary partnerships to strengthen the research initiatives at the institution. Additionally, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in their research endeavors is a vital component of this role. Professional Service - Engage in departmental and/or university committees as required, as well as participate in professional activities within their field, such as serving as a reviewer or organizing conferences. Clinical Duties - Responsibilities are extensive and include managing deceased and living donor kidney and liver transplants, as well as pancreas transplantation. There are also opportunities to engage with a comprehensive multidisciplinary hepato-biliary surgery practice and provide dialysis access services (hemo and peritoneal). Additional Responsibilities - Duties may also involve overseeing a growing general surgery practice and managing administrative tasks within the Division of Transplant Surgery. Required Qualifications:
Must possess Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Transplant Surgery or an equivalent international qualification. Completion of ASTS Fellowship training in multi-organ transplantation and procurement. Ability to fulfill licensing requirements in Virginia and be UNOS certified or eligible. Experience in teaching residents and medical students. Proven commitment to fostering a diverse environment among faculty, staff, and students is essential. Preferred Qualifications:
