Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transplant Surgeon to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our Department of Surgery, you will be responsible for providing exceptional clinical care, advancing medical science through research, and training undergraduate and graduate students in the field of transplant surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Education: Develop and deliver educational programs for residents and medical students, focusing on transplant surgery techniques and best practices.
  • Research and Development: Conduct clinical research projects, publish papers in reputable journals, and secure external funding to advance the field of transplant surgery.
  • Service and Leadership: Participate in departmental and university committees, contribute to professional organizations, and serve as a reviewer or conference organizer in the field of transplant surgery.
  • Clinical Practice: Provide high-quality patient care, including deceased and living donor kidney and liver transplantation, pancreas transplantation, and multidisciplinary hepato-biliary surgery.
Requirements
  • Board certification or eligibility in transplant surgery or equivalent.
  • ASTS fellowship training in multi-organ transplantation and procurement.
  • Ability to meet licensing requirements in Virginia and be UNOS certified or eligible.
  • Prior experience teaching residents and medical students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification in general surgery.
  • Training in robotic surgery.
