Patient Access Coordinator

About the Role
Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is seeking a skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a key member of our Business Office, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information, adhering to ethical and legal standards. Respond to emergencies while demonstrating professional characteristics. Answer incoming telephone calls, determine the purpose of the call, and forward calls to the appropriate personnel or department. Update the hospital on-call schedule daily. Verify and generate daily patient room charges. Coordinate alarm monitors and code calls, summoning the appropriate response teams. Greet and provide information to patients and visitors. Answer patient and visitor questions, directing them to the desired destination. Receive payments on account and reconcile the cash drawer.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required. Six months of prior hospital or medical office experience is necessary. Previous patient registration and computer experience are desirable. Prairie Lakes Healthcare System has a Drug-Free Workplace Policy. An accepted offer will require a pre-employment background screening and reference check as a condition of employment.
