Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Dennis Group Atlanta. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for our clients' food and beverage processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Troubleshoot Control Systems: With general supervision, you will design and troubleshoot both software and hardware necessary for control systems utilizing PLCs for integration of manufacturing systems.
  • Automate Manufacturing Processes: You will automate manufacturing processes through the use of instrumentation or controls systems.
  • Network Infrastructure Design: You will design, diagnose, and troubleshoot network infrastructures - Ethernet, DeviceNet, AS-i, Profibus, etc.
  • PLC Applications Development: You will develop new PLC applications, interfaces, or embedded controls.
  • Facility Setup and Commissioning: You will develop new or modify existing set-up and commissioning of new facilities or upgrading of existing facilities.
  • Control Panel Design: You will design, specify, wire, and procure control panel equipment, e.g. safety circuits, I/O, networks, etc.
  • Electrical Equipment Design: You will design, specify, and procure electrical equipment, e.g. MCCs, panelboards, transformers, etc.
  • Documentation and Reporting: You will create design basis document & scope of work, develop functional descriptions and analysis documents devices, and understand size and placement of control/electrical panels.
  • Field Instrumentation: You will specify, procure, configure, and troubleshoot controls hardware and field instrumentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: You will assist with coordinating with other engineer disciplines, troubleshoots and resolves malfunctions, and makes recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations.
  • Project Management: You will create commissioning and start-up checklist, observe rough-in construction for compliance with plans, specs, and details, and project primary client technical contact.
  • Vendor Management: You will develop bid documentation for Electrical, Automation, and Low Voltage (network, security) vendors.
  • Documentation and Training: You will document specifications and operating procedures, interface and manage installation contractors during construction, and researching Automation & Controls materials and best practices.
  • Talent Development: You will supporting talent growth within our organization and provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 8-11 years of experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell Systems.
  • Skills: 8-11 years of experience in Visual Basic, SQL, MS ACCESS Database programming skills a plus, 8-11 years of experience with Design and implement process network infrastructure (Ethernet, Device Net, Control Net, ProfiBus, etc.), 8-11 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, Database programming skills a plus, Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD Required.
  • Personal Qualities: Professional, self-motivated, and energetic individuals with excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel required to visit project site and other offices.
