Job Summary

The Sheet Metal Mechanic position is a critical role within EMCOR Group, requiring a skilled individual to follow all safety rules and regulations while working as part of a team daily. Under the guidance of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager, this role involves working on various projects and assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Layout sheet metal components, including ducts, hangers, and other necessary parts
  • Measure and mark dimensions for field installation, ensuring accuracy and precision
  • Drill holes for screws, bolts, or rivets, and install sheet metal with supportive frameworks
  • Field fabricate or alter parts to meet site requirements, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills
  • Sketch duct fittings and maneuver large sheet metal ducts and parts, showcasing physical stamina and dexterity
  • Fasten joints of ducts together for a complete heating, cooling, and ventilation system, requiring attention to detail and quality control
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, ensuring physical fitness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Responsible for enforcing safety rules and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety within the team
  • Ability to guide other employees, providing mentorship and support when needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • HVAC sheet metal and installation experience, with a strong understanding of blueprints and technical drawings
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record, ensuring reliable transportation and ability to commute to job sites
  • OSHA 10 Certifications desired, demonstrating commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical specifications, and other documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and documentation, including federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to operate forklifts and/or scissor lifts, showcasing physical ability and adaptability
Work Environment

The work environment for this role involves working in various field locations, with potential exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical and electrical parts, high, precarious places, dust, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, cold and heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
