DESCRIPTION

The primary objective of this role is to oversee the management and coordination of events and activities for the citizens of the Consolidated Government.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises and evaluates team members, addressing employee concerns, directing tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Plans, organizes, and assigns tasks for special events, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and monitoring progress to meet established goals.
  • Designs, develops, and executes special events, including budget creation and management, event scheduling, and site selection.
  • Enhances the visibility of Consolidated Government venues by fostering relationships with potential clients and sponsors, coordinating events, and conducting site tours.
  • Facilitates the use of facilities for private events, managing rental schedules, contracts, and third-party service providers to ensure successful event execution.
  • Coordinates pre-event logistics, including documentation preparation, supply procurement, and compliance with safety and licensing requirements.
  • Oversees post-event evaluations, including cleanup and assessment, to provide insights for future improvements.
  • Maintains and updates a comprehensive calendar of events and activities, ensuring accurate information is available to the public.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field

Experience: Five years of relevant experience in event planning or venue management, including supervisory roles.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • In-depth understanding of management principles, recreation administration, and program development.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, policies, and budgetary processes.
  • Expertise in organizing large-scale events, managing resources, and engaging with the media.
  • Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in modern office technology.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively supervising a team.
Licensing/Certification:
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. If the state license is from outside Georgia or South Carolina, the applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR and AED certifications.
OTHER

This position may require staff to be on call during emergencies.
