Job Summary

This is a highly specialized position that involves planning and performing construction coordination between contractors, utility companies, and railroads primarily for the MaineDOT Highway Program, but may include Bridge, Multi-Modal, and Maintenance unit projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistent statewide policies and standards.
  • Work closely with the Utility Engineer, other Utility Coordinators, and Project Managers.
  • Coordinate project schedules with priorities for utility company resources to ensure the timely adjustment and relocation of utility, railroad, and municipal facilities within the State's right of way.
  • Work with utility companies to locate utilities and plans and schedules necessary adjustments and relocations.
  • Coordinate work within railroad right-of-ways.
  • Coordinate meetings between utility companies, contractors, railroads, Department personnel, and other stakeholders involved with the projects.
  • Develop agreements with utilities, railroads, and municipalities.
  • Serve as the utility and railroad team member on assigned projects.
Requirements

Candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

  • Eight (8) years of experience in engineering.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and four (4) years of engineering experience.
  • An Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and six (6) years of experience in engineering.
