Role Overview:

As an Inclusive Education Specialist, you will deliver tailored instructional services to students with diverse disabilities, including visual impairments, while addressing their unique needs. Your responsibilities will include assessing students, developing individualized educational plans, and creating a variety of adaptive materials to enhance learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet educational standards and pursue necessary certification/licensure while continually enhancing professional knowledge.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of both the general curriculum and specialized subject matter.
  • Assess students' current performance levels through comprehensive evaluations and assessments.
  • Design and prioritize measurable educational objectives; develop both short-term and long-term instructional strategies tailored to individual goals.
  • Establish and uphold classroom structures, rules, and procedures, maintaining high expectations for student behavior.
  • Create a supportive learning environment that is conducive to student engagement and success.
  • Build respectful relationships with students, adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Utilize various teaching methods and motivational strategies to engage students and maximize learning opportunities.
  • Provide constructive feedback and positive reinforcement to encourage student growth.
  • Develop assessment criteria and communicate expectations for success; monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans based on ongoing evaluations.
  • Foster positive interpersonal relationships within the classroom and school community.
  • Demonstrate respect and effective communication with students, families, and colleagues, advocating for the needs of learners.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure a safe and organized learning environment, effectively managing emergencies.
  • Maintain a clean and inviting classroom space that promotes learning.
  • Address students' medical needs by adapting teaching strategies and adhering to established protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field, with the ability to obtain a special needs teacher license within three years.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Crisis Prevention and Physical Intervention (CPPI) is required.
  • Ability to travel independently as needed.
  • A Master's degree in Special Education with current certification in severe special needs is preferred.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments or severe disabilities is highly desirable.
