The ELCA Federal Credit Union (FCU) provides financial products and services tailored for ELCA members, pastors, congregations, synods, and affiliated ministries. Position Overview

The Account Processor (Banking/Teller) plays a crucial role in managing account correspondence and maintenance, processing deposits, renewals, and loan payments. This position is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service to all ELCA ministries and member investors.

Position Details

This is a full-time, regular, non-exempt (hourly) position based in Chicago, requiring a hybrid work model. The role necessitates in-office presence on a weekly basis, typically 2-3 days, with potential for additional days during meetings and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage deposits, payments, withdrawals, transfers, and service events.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries from new and existing customers via various communication channels.
  • Maintain customer electronic banking functions within MIF systems.
  • Assist with incoming calls as needed.
  • Process draw requests and ensure budget compliance for projects.
  • Handle loan and deposit payments to ensure accurate posting.
  • Notify customers of expired insurance policies and manage related communications.
  • Set up monthly payment and deposit allotments for customer accounts.
  • Distribute loan and deposit packages to prospective customers.
  • Scan necessary documents as per loan department procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for additional MIF products/services and refer accordingly.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in banking or credit union roles, with a focus on customer service and loan disbursement.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and adept at using computers.
  • Ability to listen effectively and address customer concerns.
  • Adaptability to change in a professional manner.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Physical Requirements

A Bachelor's degree is preferred, or a combination of relevant experience and education. The role requires regular communication and the use of a computer, with occasional lifting of materials up to 15 pounds.
