Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Railroad Track Foreman to join our team at OmniTRAX. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient installation, repair, and maintenance of railroad tracks on our territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and supervise daily work activities for track construction and maintenance crews in compliance with Federal Railroad Association (FRA) and company procedures and policies.
  • Ensure safe completion of work activities to meet customer expectations and company objectives.
  • Develop and implement repair plans for track defects, identify necessary materials, tools, and equipment, and ensure successful repairs are made and documented.
  • Supervise the operations of hand-tools and powered tools to perform construction and maintenance tasks with railroad tracks.
  • Work with other employees to re-rail trains using necessary equipment.
  • Drive company vehicles and operate specialized equipment such as Backhoe, Grapple Truck, Boom Truck, Regulator, and Tamper.
  • Conduct job activity briefings with the crew and ensure subordinates are familiar with their duties.
  • Perform CDL work to meet qualifications of the FMCSA Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Subpart B.
Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • 1-2 years of track maintenance experience.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, including wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, measuring tapes, etc.
  • Ability to operate power tools and hydraulic equipment, including portable grinders, rail saws, spike pullers, track wrench machines, power drills, and track jacks.
  • Basic shop math concepts to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, length, distance, and volume.
  • Ability to write legibly to complete routine reports and complete required testing.
  • Pass written examinations on the safe operations of trains and maintenance of way standards.
  • Familiarity with Roadway Workers' Protection (RWP) and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and business associates in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Professional integrity and accountability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing, and/or Oil & Gas industries.
  • Experience with ENSCO or other Track Inspection data management software(s).
  • Qualify in Track Inspection as required by FRA.
Work Environment

Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather, including snow, rain, heat, and sub-freezing temperatures.

Daily travel as needed during scheduled work hours.

Physical demands include lifting, reaching, handling, fingering, cervical flexion/extension, rotation, lower body frequency, and sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching/squatting.
