Department Overview

The Asset Risk Division plays a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and formulating strategies to mitigate risks associated with electric transmission and distribution assets. This includes enhancing system performance and reliability while addressing wildfire risks. The division is committed to achieving several key objectives: 1) ensuring accurate and timely reporting on system performance; 2) fulfilling commitments outlined in our Wildfire Mitigation Plans; 3) nurturing trusted relationships with stakeholders; and 4) providing ongoing technical support and managing the development of technology for existing and new applications.

General Purpose

The Asset Risk Program Manager is tasked with orchestrating the creation of a cohesive risk strategy that aligns various programmatic efforts related to wildfire risk, reliability, and resilience within a unified framework. This role will facilitate the development, approval, tracking, and reporting of cross-functional initiatives aimed at achieving strategic goals within the integrated risk strategy. As the landscape of operational and engineering risks evolves, the program manager will implement an integrated risk assessment framework to identify emerging risks and prioritize mitigation efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Formulate and formalize strategic objectives for operational and engineering risk mitigation initiatives, including wildfire risk, reliability, and resilience.
  • Develop a comprehensive risk strategy for electric system resilience, incorporating an integrated framework for risk assessment, data analysis, strategic objectives, and actionable plans.
  • Oversee the implementation of operational and engineering risk mitigation programs in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including risk analysis and progress tracking.
  • Regularly engage with PacifiCorp executives to communicate progress, secure approvals for business proposals, and obtain strategic direction.
  • Support regulatory activities by drafting testimony, responding to inquiries, and providing content for regulatory presentations.
  • Coordinate with program and project teams to monitor, document, and report on progress towards corporate strategic objectives.
  • Conduct benchmarking with other utilities to identify best practices and lessons learned for integration into the risk strategy.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and regulatory meetings related to risk strategy and mitigation planning.
  • Identify and prioritize business requirements for technology support related to program execution, tracking, and reporting in collaboration with the product team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Environmental Policy, Sustainability, Energy Resilience, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the utility sector, focusing on engineering, operations, operational risk management, or business planning.
  • Proven understanding of the electric utility risk landscape, including wildfire, climatological, and natural disaster risks.
  • Experience in regulatory processes, including preparing filings and engaging with stakeholders.
  • Strong management skills to establish objectives, develop policies, and oversee the implementation of systems and processes.
  • Leadership and teamwork abilities to negotiate and influence peers and senior management on strategic issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate employees and effectively convey strategies to other leaders.
Preferences
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Environmental Policy, Sustainability, or Energy Resilience.
  • Familiarity with the company's strategic plan and regulatory environment, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
