Job Summary:

Goldbelt is seeking a Senior GIS Specialist to support the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) in Norfolk, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and management of complex GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, quality, and accessibility.
  • Conduct advanced spatial data analysis, using GIS tools and techniques to generate maps, reports, and visualizations to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement GIS-based applications and solutions for a variety of projects, ensuring they meet user needs and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the integration of GIS data with other systems, such as CAD, databases, and remote sensing applications, to support comprehensive data analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, and IT specialists, to ensure GIS solutions align with project goals and organizational objectives.
  • Manage and mentor junior GIS staff, providing guidance on GIS tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Perform quality control checks on GIS data, maps, and outputs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders on GIS capabilities, spatial data management, and analysis techniques.

Requirements:

  • Shall have an in-depth knowledge of the principles of cartography and must be able to collect and interpret mapping data from a variety of sources including field survey data and aerial photography.
  • Knowledge of relational database management systems (RDMSs) and structural query languages (SQL) such as Oracle is required.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 10 years of computer mapping experience with ESRI compatible products.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Must be a US citizen.
