Position: Banquet Captain

In this capacity, you will be responsible for leading staff and ensuring the flawless execution of events. As a Banquet Captain, effective communication across various teams is critical. You will coordinate with different personnel to maintain a smooth operational flow. Your ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously will be essential, as you may be involved in setting up venues, addressing guest inquiries, preparing for future events, liaising with staff, and overseeing cleanup after events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Occasionally assist in roles such as banquet server or bartender.
  • Coordinate food and beverage orders by collaborating closely with kitchen and floor staff.
  • Enforce health and safety regulations.
  • Understand and teach service standards effectively.
  • Demonstrate expertise in fine dining service styles, including setup and breakdown.
  • Maintain polished presentation and communication with VIP clients and management.
  • Train new servers with established training standards.
  • Interpret and articulate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Possess advanced knowledge of food and beverage service.
  • Have prior leadership experience.
  • Maintain flexible availability for full-time hours.
  • Navigating the property efficiently.
  • Coordinate vendor load-in and setup.
  • Understand event operations, menu, policies, and proper food handling/safety.
  • Act as a problem-solver and manage a small team in the absence of a manager.
  • Participate in captain meetings.
  • Assist management in creating and updating operational checklists.
  • Expedite food service during events.
  • Create a detailed preparation list prior to events.
  • Gather guest feedback and relay relevant information to management.
  • Oversee full event-close procedures and secure the facility.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Event Server or Captain in a hospitality setting.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Maintain high energy levels throughout events with clients and staff.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to work long hours when necessary.
