Job Summary

This is a professional position responsible for the operations of the Agency's Environmental Health Database System (EHDB). The incumbent is an Administrator for EHDB and N.I.C system (credit card terminals). The position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities, including communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop performance expectations and meet with staff regularly to discuss performance
  • Complete performance reviews and maintain vacation and work schedules
  • Ensure staff maintains client accounts and completes entries into the EHDB system
  • Collect client environmental fees for permits and licenses, as well as medical payments made at the FLHC
  • Ensure the security, custody, and maintenance of internal control over negotiable and liquid funds
  • Prepare monthly reinspection reports to be billed in EHDB and oversee the billing, printing, and mailing of monthly reinspection invoices
  • Respond to inquiries regarding past payments made, current balances, and billing errors
  • Ensure the mailing of letters to clients for collection of unpaid balances and coordinate with Environmental staff on collection progress for delinquent accounts
  • Represent DOH-Broward in legal cases presented to the Sanitary Control Board and research violations of EH permits and notify Legal when payments are received
  • Calculate fees and billings for all new Environmental facilities and other required fees such as Sanitary Board and Consent Order fines
  • Ensure the receiving of funds, log made to record funds received, data input to the EHDB system, the accuracy of coding of all data to properly reflect the services rendered and funds received, and the running and/or preparation of management reports
Requirements
  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency
  • Current employee of Florida Department of Health employees, including OPS, Career Service, SES, or SMS employees
  • Experience billing, recording payments, and data entry
  • Work experience of cashiering experience
  • Experience working as a Supervisor with direct reports
  • Experience conducting training regarding data entry, recording services, and billing
