Position Overview

The Service Technician for Battery Solutions is a dedicated professional focused on delivering exceptional customer service and tailored solutions. This role involves the repair of batteries, chargers, and battery handling equipment efficiently at client locations, while also identifying opportunities to recommend suitable products. Technicians will be provided with a company vehicle and comprehensive training to enhance their effectiveness. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of standard tools, basic electrical principles, and the ability to interpret technical documents. This role is primarily home-based, requiring travel to various customer sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete work orders and reports accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with the appropriate contacts at customer locations to ensure satisfaction.
  • Identify and address safety and environmental concerns.
  • Maintain the service vehicle in optimal condition, stocked according to specifications.
  • Uphold safety standards and maintain cleanliness at customer sites and during all operations.
  • Assist in the shop or as directed by management when necessary.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and courteously in all traffic conditions.
  • Report any customer issues to management and sales teams.
  • Promote additional products and services to customers.
  • Use company resources responsibly while performing job duties.
  • Represent Exide Technologies professionally and neatly in all interactions.
  • Regularly operate forklifts, cranes, and reach trucks as required.
  • Conduct service calls to repair batteries, chargers, and related equipment promptly to meet customer expectations.
  • Ensure all relevant information is communicated to the appropriate personnel at customer sites.
  • Demonstrate expertise in troubleshooting and repairing various equipment.
  • Seek out new business opportunities.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with customers, dealers, and management to provide assistance and improvement suggestions.

Required Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who possess:

  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities, with the capacity to work independently.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with one to three years of experience in battery or field service preferred.
  • Industrial maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Forklift certification is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and communicate effectively.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and perform other physical activities.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs regularly and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
  • Regular use of safety glasses and adherence to vision requirements.

Work Environment

  • The work environment may involve exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Regular exposure to heights, hazardous chemicals, and electrical risks.
  • Noise levels may vary from minimal to loud.
  • Work conditions may range from clean to dirty environments.
