Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Labor and Employee Relations, the Labor and Employee Relations Manager plays a key role in supporting the mission of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Health. This senior-level position serves as a resource and manager to other labor and employee relations staff, providing guidance on all aspects of employee and labor relations, from formal training to grievance handling and corrective action.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall guidance to managers, supervisors, and directors on employee and labor relations matters
  • Recommend, assist in writing, and provide guidance on interpreting and enforcing human resources policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Review and counsel managers and supervisors on work-related issues and progressive corrective action in compliance with existing policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and the law
  • Manage and resolve employee relations-related requests and issues
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in employee and labor relations or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Advanced analytical skills, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of employee relations practices, labor/employment law, and collective bargaining agreements
