Job Title: Principal Labor Relations Representative

Job Summary:

The Principal Labor Relations Representative is a key member of the Labor Relations team at BARTCA, responsible for administering the labor relations program, interpreting collective bargaining agreements, and providing advice to management staff on contractual obligations. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a diverse transportation and public sector labor environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and apply contract obligations contained in collective bargaining agreements
  • Provide advice to management staff on contractual obligations, disciplinary actions, negotiations, and dispute settlement procedures
  • Consult with union representatives and prepare labor relations documents and reports
  • Supervise staff and coordinate labor relations activities with other divisions and outside agencies
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings and stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of labor relations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial/labor relations, public administration, business administration, human resources management, or a closely related field
  • Four years of verifiable professional labor relations program experience, including at least two years in contract negotiations on one or more assigned labor contracts
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse transportation and public sector labor environment
  • Knowledge of operations, services, and activities of a labor relations program, as well as statutory law and common law rules of labor contract construction and administration
