Account Executive Job Description

Heffernan Insurance Brokers is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Account Executive to join its Southern California team. This role combines sales and account management responsibilities, requiring a dynamic individual to lead client relationships and develop innovative strategies for risk management and insurance needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage total account responsibility, including marketing and account management for assigned clients.
  • Travel for client and carrier meetings, customer events, association events, and conferences.
  • Lead the management of renewals, including cross-selling other lines of coverage.
  • Participate in client presentations for new and renewal business, developing strategies and preparing specifications and submission materials.
  • Guide new business submissions through underwriting, creating SOV's, ACORD applications, loss projections, and narrative of operations.
  • Coordinate renewal marketing processes with clients, providing program structures, reviews, and analyses.
  • Manage complex accounts, including account placement, price negotiations, and alternative risk services.
  • Provide technical competence in areas of coverage and current markets.
  • Manage account services, balancing relationships with clients, team members, and carriers.
  • Evaluate insured needs, communicate renewal strategies, and meet regularly with insureds to build rapport.
  • Conduct training sessions for clients on workers' compensation reporting, GL and property reporting awareness, and strategic trainings.
  • Attend loss prevention meetings, prepare clients, and conduct on-site risk audits.
  • Participate in team sales meetings and maintain thorough documentation with proper E&O procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School graduate/GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of insurance work experience in a related position.
  • Active P&C insurance license required.
  • CIC or other advanced designation preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven analytical, marketing, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
  • Must be organized and able to manage time effectively.
