Position Overview:

Our client, a distinguished private educational institution, is dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment for students from preschool through grade 8. The school emphasizes rigorous academic standards while promoting character development, enabling students to thrive as informed scholars and responsible citizens.

We are currently seeking a part-time, non-exempt Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining the health and well-being of our students during school hours, with a schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position spans 10 months, aligning with the academic calendar, while health benefits are provided year-round.


Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Wellness, the Licensed Vocational Nurse will be responsible for a variety of health care services, including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring a safe and healthy environment for both students and staff.
  • Providing initial care for students requiring First Aid.
  • Administering prescribed medications and managing the medication inventory.
  • Documenting and tracking all visits to the wellness center, including reasons for visits.
  • Maintaining First Aid supply inventories and classroom care kits.
  • Reviewing and following up on student accident reports.
  • Creating and updating lists of student allergies and urgent medical needs.
  • Managing school immunization records and communicating with parents regarding updates.
  • Educating students on health care and personal hygiene practices.
  • Assisting in the organization of health-related workshops for parents.
  • Accompanying students on field trips as needed based on health requirements.
  • Conducting regular lice checks after school breaks.
  • Supporting the lunch program and addressing nutritional needs.
  • Adhering to the guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid California Vocational Nurse's license.
  • Preferred: One year of nursing experience in a school environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Clearance through Live Scan and TB testing.

Employment Terms:
