Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse

As a Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse at UCLA Health, you will provide essential patient care to a varied outpatient demographic within a multi-specialty healthcare facility. Your collaboration with clinic leadership, administrative teams, attending physicians, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals, including LVNs and Medical Assistants, will be vital in delivering comprehensive patient services and maintaining exceptional care standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and identify both normal and abnormal signs and symptoms indicative of critical medical situations.
- Coordinate and prioritize clinical tasks in accordance with departmental and administrative guidelines.
Compensation
Salary Range: $34.61-$45.66 per hour
Work Schedule
This facility operates as an Immediate Care site, with hours extending into evenings, weekends, and holidays. Typical shifts include Monday from 12 PM to 9 PM, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM, and alternating weekends from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, including some holidays.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Valid license from the State of California Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners, including IV therapy and blood withdrawal certification.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Proficient in performing phlebotomy, CPR, injections, and other nursing skills within the scope of practice.
- Ability to accurately take vital signs, administer medications, and manage prescription refills as necessary.
- Capable of recognizing abnormal lab results and effectively communicating findings to the physician.
- Strong understanding of common and life-threatening medical conditions.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer operations, including navigating Windows and utilizing electronic patient care systems.
- Knowledge of safety protocols for handling biohazardous materials and contaminated instruments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative work environment with physicians, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Effective verbal communication skills to relay sensitive information courteously, both in person and over the phone.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with instruments and supplies necessary for conducting physical examinations and procedures.
- At least 6 months of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
